PhD thesis: Magnetic arch electrodeless plasma thruster experimental investigation

Célian Boyé successfully defended his PhD thesis “Magnetic arch electrodeless plasma thruster experimental investigation”.

His thesis was central to ZARATHUSTRA as throughout the project’s lifetime, he developed the Magnetic Art Thruster. The thruster consists of two ECRTs firing in parallel with opposing polarities such that the net magnetic dipole cancels out, and the two magnetic nozzles merge to form a magnetic arch.

His work resulted in 2 publications (one of them currently in preparation) and 2 oral presentations given by him in international conferences. He also performed a research stay at the ICARE Laboratory of the CNRS under the supervision of Stéphane Mazouffre and he participated in 2 outreach activities.

We congratulate Célian again for his hard work and perseverence, and we wish him the best for his next steps!
